Schools Using Obama Inauguration as Teaching Tool

At noon tomorrow hundreds of thousands of children living on the East Coast will put down their books and lunch trays and gather in front of massive television screens to watch history unfold. Florida Governor Charlie Crist wrote a letter last week to state Education Commissioner Eric Smith asking him to encourage schools to take a break from studies on Tuesday, when Barack Obama takes the oath of office. Homeschoolers suspicious of Arne Duncan, the new Secretary of Education

It figures. Considering that the vast majority of homeschoolers are anti-Obama, it is not shocking that his pick of a fellow Chicagoan, and buddy as the Secretary of Education would be viewed with suspicion. I spent some time perusing the internet searching for some connection to Duncan and any mention of homeschooling and found nothing. What’s This about the Obamas Getting a Puppy?

Barack Obama’s win was, naturally, the talk of all the news yesterday. But of course the thing that caught my ear was the focus on how the Obamas were considering getting a puppy. The Puppy Speech I’d tried to stay awake for Obama’s victory speech Tuesday night, but instead I ended up falling asleep. I guess if I would have watched it I would have heard for myself the part where he said he was going to reward his daughters’ support and patience during the campaign with a puppy. Barack Obama’s Big Win and Tragic Loss

As you know, the Illinois Senator Barack Obama pulled off the biggest win of his political career last night. Last night, as the incumbent president gave his acceptance speech, he was surrounded by his family and approximately 240,000 supporters. He should be on top of the world at this particular moment in time. As a homeschooler in a Bible belt state, I know that Presidential Elect Barack Obama had no bigger opposition than the homeschooling community. I have the email inbox to prove it. Sure, I ran into a few homeschoolers here and there who were for Obama, but the vast majority felt that he would be bad for the institution of homeschooling.
