How I Met Your Father

In my last post, I described how one genealogy blogger’s account of how her grandfather and grandmother met made me think a lot about the importance of preserving family stories for future generations. In the spirit of recording family stories for posterity, I think that I will share my own story about how I met my husband. My boys are too young to understand the story, but there will come a day when they will wonder how their family came to be and this is what I will tell them. It all started when I was a student in law … Continue reading

Readers do not care if you get paid to post, paid for a link, paid if they buy from your affiliate link, or compensated with review products. The One and Only Homeschool Planner You Need

Planning is an essential part of homeschooling. As the years go on or the more children you have planning is how you make it through the day. Discipling Young Hearts: Virtue

Virtue is defined as moral excellence. From virtue a princess’s character and actions will reflect Christ. It is where all over character traits and right actions hinge. Yet being virtuous is not always the easy choice and will at times take courage to set faith into action. God places virtue as more valuable than wealth. Worldly wealth is temporary and does not please God. A virtuous life is one that pleases the Lord and lives eternally. Virtue is not to be defined by the world but defined by moral excellence rooted in the Word of God. A virtuous heart makes … Continue reading

Tips for Affiliate Marketing on Your Blog

Affiliate marketing can be a roaring success, a moderate success or it can fall flat. Often falling flat or moderate success can occur despite our best efforts. If that is happening to you then switch to another affiliate. It is perhaps an affiliate that does not resonate with your readers. However, more times than now the reason affiliate marketing fails is due to a lack of work. Affiliate marking does not succeed by placing an ad on a sidebar and forgetting about it. In fact, placing an ad on your sidebar is one of the least successful ways to spreading … Continue reading

Teaching Handwriting without a Curriculum

On my blog’s Facebook page, I was asked to recommend a handwriting curriculum. I have received this question many times before and always cringe when asked. I cringe because I have nothing to recommend. Years of homeschool reviews and homeschooling under my belt and I still have not used a formal handwriting curriculum. Frankly, I never understood why one would use a curriculum based on handwriting. I teach handwriting the old fashioned way by sitting at a whiteboard and showing each stroke of each letter. My children would sit with lined paper and mimic my movements. I will not claim … Continue reading

I Can Do It Myself

This year my son turned three. It seems like every other three year old we know is already in preschool. As a single mom with very little money coming in, I just couldn’t afford it this year. I felt guilty that he wasn’t getting the same opportunities the other kids were simply because I was a single mom who was barely making ends meet as it was. Would my child be forever behind the other kids when he reached kindergarten? Would he ever catch up? I set out to find a solution. As much as I wished I could afford … Continue reading
