Great News! Homeschooling is Officially Still Legal in California

It seems almost poetic that I should happen to be in California when the state’s appellate court ruled that a previous declaration that homeschooling was illegal was wrong. While I have not noticed hordes of homeschoolers dancing in the streets of Las Angeles, I can feel the proverbial sigh of relief. California Homeschool Ruling looks Positive

There still hasn’t been a ruling on the final verdict on legality of homeschooling in California. Apparently the child abuse case that started the whole thing has been dismissed. Still, the greater issue is still under consideration. Update of California Homeschool Ruling

The ruling that essentially said homeschooling in California without a teaching degree is illegal, is headed back to court. The second court of appeals will re-hear the case. This new trial is being referred to as a “second chance for homeschooling”, with homeschool advocated declaring that homeschoolers are “safe” and being hailed as a sign that homeschoolers are getting “their message across”.
