Have you ever visited The Mailbox? If you haven't, may I suggest that you head on over there?
The Mailbox isn't just a website, although it certainly is that, full of fun craft ideas for teachers and homeschool parents. But at this site, you can register for their free e-newsletter, and when you get a free account, you can download grade-specific information and save it in online files for future reference. It's really an amazing resource.
But that's still just part of it ...
This site sells some amazing school books. I was first introduced to the site as I picked up one of these books at a nearby store. Called "Quick and Easy Science Fun," I was first attracted to the cute lizard on the front, dressed in a bow tie and apron and ready to teach. As I flipped through the book, I was impressed by the page layouts, the full-color pictures, the easy-to-understand instructions, and the way the book was divided up into three segments - physical science, life science, and earth science. It's written and organized in a way that even I, with no real science background whatsoever, can feel comfortable teaching my children.
There are games and manipulatives. There are teacher resources and math tools. You can request a catalog, or order online through their secure shopping cart. There's a clearance section with amazing deals on their products. You can even submit ideas to their magazine department. I don't think this site will wash your dishes, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if they added that feature at some point down the road. You can even click on their "free resources" link and get a weekly activity.
Head on over to The Mailbox and see if there's anything there that will work for you in your homeschool. I have to say, I'm mighty impressed with how comprehensive it is.
