Las Vegas Eyewitness News reported that more students are hitting the books online. They called it homeschooling. To be more specific, the report said, “Until recently, parents choosing to home school their children felt isolated — alone not only in their belief that it would be a better choice for their family, but also because there were precious few resources to help them. Tennessee Homeschool Graduates Face Diploma Issues

A police officer received a perfect 4.0 average at the police academy, but has lost his certification because he received a category IV high school diploma. (A Category IV high school diploma is awarded to private church schools and homeschoolers). Four childcare workers also lost their jobs due to having a category IV diploma. (Lifesitenews.com) This means that even homeschoolers with accredited diplomas in Tennessee will not be eligible for state jobs. Tips For Highschool Dropouts Who Want to Homeschool

In my last article, Indiana Registers Dropouts as Homeschoolers, I mentioned how school districts in this state and several others are reclassifying homeschoolers as high school dropouts. This manipulation lowers a schools dropout rates while also lowering the perceived success of homeschooling. This is a bad thing for all involved. Still, there will be high school students who find themselves out of school, told they are homeschoolers and are left to fend for them. When your homeschooled child does not want to learn

I recently received a question from a homeschooling parent whose children were being resistant to being taught. Her older child was six years old and using California Virtual Academy (A school-sponsored homeschool). She was at grade level in three subjects and almost two grades ahead in Math. Her son was 4 years old and knew some times tables, and a bit about other subjects. Both kids were resisting being taught. My advice to her was to back off and give the kids some space. I just received an email announcing the K12 program in available to Georgia Homeschoolers, in the form of Georgia Virtual Academy.
