Saturday, January 27

Andrea Hermitt took a look at where we homeschoolers spend most of our time: Homeschooling or Housekeeping?

Sunday, January 28

A great science resource was reviewed in Andrea's Website for Homeschoolers: Science News for Kids.

Monday, January 29

Andrea did some Digging for Historic Truth on the History Channel. And, in her post What Grade are They In?, she discussed how homeschoolers assign (or don't assign) their kids to specific grade levels.

I finished a short series on little ones in Homeschooling with a Toddler and began a series on Charlotte Mason, including Charlotte Mason and Living Books, and The "Science of Relations."

Tuesday, January 30

Andrea offered great recommendations for adding on to our home libraries with Building a Homeschool Library: Educational Videos and DVDs and Building a Homeschool Library: History Videos and DVDs. She also shared step-by-step instructions to Customize Your Homeschooler's Start Page.

Valorie Delp answered a question from the forums in For the Love of Math, suggesting fun, hands-on activities as well as curriculum choices.

I added to the Charlotte Mason series with "An Atmosphere, a Discipline, a Life" and "Reluctant Narrators."

Wednesday, January 31

In Reasons I am Glad I Homeschool: Trigonometry, Andrea defended the flexibility and wide variety of choices available to homeschooling families and went to bat again for parental rights in If You Don't Like it, You Can Homeschool.

Thursday, February 1

Taking a look at reading programs, Andrea discovered, in Not for Homeschoolers, that Accelerated Reader is not available for home use. And, in Putting the Grammar Back in Literature, she advocated an integrated approach to reading and writing.

Friday, February 2

I dovetailed with Andrea's grammar and literature post, with another look at integrating literature and writing skills, in Charlotte Mason: What's the Point of Copywork?

Andrea continued to tackle reading, exploring other Reading Incentive Programs, and shared how she uses Historical Fiction of the Modern Time Period to teach both history and a love of good books.
