Homeschooling Resource of the Day: HomeSchoolViewTube.comby Andrea Hermitt | More from this Blogger 22 Sep 2008 08:35 AM I just found out about a new website for homeschoolers called Homeschoolviewtube.com. It is a cross between Youtube, Facebook, and MySpace for homeschoolers. It is a social network, a video uploading site, and a place for homeschooling parents to connect, face to face ...kind of. This is important because Facebook has purposely excluded homeschoolers, although they allow adults unaffiliated with any school. There are also Christian videos and amateur entertainment by and for homeschoolers. This is great for me because I had to stop putting videos on YouTube because I did not want to deal with the absolute hatred from people who did not agree with me. Besides, I just didn't have time field all of the nasty comments. I would much rather use a site where the majority of the audience was in agreement and not just looking to stir up issues. Meanwhile, the site is new so it will take a while to get up to youtube traffic... actually, it probably won't ever get to youtube standards because it's just not youtube and it has a smaller and more focused audience. The biggest plus about this site that I like is that kids can watch other homeschoolers online without you worrying about them seeing pornography on the side bar and other questionable things. Finally, a site I feel comfortable letting my kids use! Thank you for sharing this, I will have to check it out. I have started using Bison Educational Systems. It is a website that allows you to print off questions in any subject that are very similar to the state proficiency tests. It allows me to see what areas my child needs more help in. Maybe this will be helpful for you, too? http://www.bisoned.com Discuss this article
