Homeschooling Parents Subsequent Careers
by Andrea Hermitt | More from this Blogger
As I mentioned many times before, homeschooling is more of a way of life than a way to educate children. "In my post Does Homeschooling have Benefits for Parents?" I touched on the fact that homeschooling our children have helped my husband and me to adjust our life perspective and even to find our true callings.
For many homeschooling parents, homeschooling has shaped the careers of the parents. Many parents find themselves getting involved professionally with education in a tutoring and homeschooling guidance capacity when they are done homeschooling their own children. Some parents begin to write books on homeschooling and lecturing on education even before they are done homeschooling their own. Other parents become curriculum writers and providers. One homeschooling father in particular that I am familiar with has recorded stories that he told to his children and has a promising career as an author and children's entertainer ahead of him. To read a media review about his work you can visit this families.com blog post.
If you are homeschooling your children and wondering what you might do when your time with them is finished, I suggest that you tap into your most favorite part of homeschooling your children, and develop a business. You can tutor in your favorite subject. You can help families fill out homeschooling paperwork and accept phone calls for guidance and support. You can evaluate and test children. You can also provide enrichment activities like physical education and musical instruction.
Just because you are done homeschooling your own children does not mean you are no longer valuable to the homeschooling community and that your job is done. If you so choose, you may find that, your career in homeschooling is just beginning.
