The Earthaven Eco-Village

After watching the Dancing Rabbit Eco-Village episode of “30 Days” yesterday, I decided to do a bit more research on other eco-villages. The first one I found was Earthaven, in the Southern Appalachians of North Carolina. This eco-village was founded in 1994 and covers 320 acres near Ashville. Right now, Earthaven has 60 members (50 of who live on the land), but they are hoping to grow to 150 people with 54 homesites. Eventually, they hope to have neighborhoods, businesses, orchards, market gardens, and wetlands. Barack Obama’s Big Win and Tragic Loss

As you know, the Illinois Senator Barack Obama pulled off the biggest win of his political career last night. Last night, as the incumbent president gave his acceptance speech, he was surrounded by his family and approximately 240,000 supporters. He should be on top of the world at this particular moment in time. Student Inventors Awards

During the 16th annual ExploraVision awards, students from grades kindergarten through twelfth grade had the opportunity to show their talent, make their dreams come true, and win some cash. The students at the National Press Club are all inventors. The students bring their ideas and inventions for the judges to examine. Through judging, the judges are looking for ideas that can be used in the future and possibly created within the next twenty years.
