Softbasics is short for "software for mastering the basics". The softbasiccs website offers Math Tri-Pak and T/F Math Challenger as well as several other educational programs to homeschooler and private schools. Some of these programs are free, and others are free with some conditions. The software allows parents to print educational activities.

Sonlight Curriculum is "Christian Homeschooling Company that specializes in literature-based homeschool curriculum programs." According to the Sonlight philosophy, "homeschooling is a way of life". Sonlight eliminates textbooks and focuses on great literature instead. Sonlight grade level packages include Math, Science, Language Arts, History and Geography, as well as electives. Spectrum Workbooks by McGraw-Hill provides phonics instruction for grades K-3, and word study and reading for older grades (though middles school). They also make writing, reading and math workbooks, which can be an excellent homeschool guide. Spectrum workbooks also make test prep books for grades 3-8.

Speedy Spanish/Bechtel Books starts students on Spanish as early as preschool. "This Spanish course is geared to teach speaking first and then later, the serious student may take a high school course where he can learn grammar." Older students can teach themselves (without assistance) using speedy Spanish tapes and books.

Spell to Write and Read explains to the parent how to teach phonograms and contains spelling rules for greater understanding of how to spell. The book also includes diagnostic tests. Spelling Plus 1000 Words Toward Spelling Success contains 69 spelling lists (enough to last several years). It is intended for grade K-6 and the words range from am, an, and at to words like fascinate and mischievous. This book was written for classrooms, but is easily adaptable to one on one use.

Spelling power is a spelling program used to teach lists of most frequently used words. The book combines rule based spelling with visual spelling (recognizing when a word is spelled correctly).

Spellwell is a series of workbooks for grades 2-5. It is designed to enforce spelling rules and encourages students to look for patterns, but to also be aware of "outlaw" words.
