In my post on hybrid homeschooling, I talked about combining homeschooling with distance learning or local classes. Here is the list of Distance Learning Programs you can use.

Allied National High School provides a "one of a kind online high school experience". This high school is regionally and nationally accredited, and provides college prep classes and provides one-on-one support. Classes are structured to each students individual educational path. The costs of this 'school' can quickly add up, costing $318.00 for a 1 semester course (1/2 credit) or $428.00 for a 2 semester course (1 credit).

Alpha Omega Academy is an accredited, full service distance learning program for Christian homeschoolers. Part of Alpha Omega Publications. Students may choose to homeschool through LIFEPAC work texts or via computer based means (Switched on Schoolhouse). Switched on Schoolhouse has interactive lessons for grades 3-12. Tuition ranges from $200 to $1200 depending on grades and whether you choose workbooks or online education.

American School is a 100 year old accredited correspondence school that serves many students in the entertainment and sports fields. American School students include Jessica Alba, Donny and Marie Osmond, Andre Agassi, and more. American School offers an Accredited High School diploma through independent study. Homeschoolers entering into the program can take exams to establish course credits. College bound students can choose to take American Schools College prep course. Prices are listed as "affordable", you need to contact the school for the price list.

Arbor Academy offers a computer based curriculum for grades 3-12 through Swithed on Schoolhouse. New homeschooling families are offered assessment tests for placement, and are offered choices in how the program will be implemented. This school is located in California (though anyone can use it) and it supplies mandatory state record keeping. Prices start at $265.00 a year.

By giving this list of distance learning programs, I am not necessarily advocating any of them, just making you aware that they exist. You will also want to look at my curriculum glossary.
