11 Resources for Distance Learning (Plus 6 resources for Special Needs!)

When people first began to home school, I am told, there was nothing. There wasn't curriculum, there weren't conventions where homeschoolers go to meet together, there wasn't the internet (or at least it was not widely available) and there weren't curriculum catalogs. Now, however there are a variety of choices and options available for home learning. In fact, it is estimated that the home schooling curriculum market makes several million dollars a year.

With the addition of computers and the internet to every household, not to mention high speed internet access, many parents are opting for distance learning for their children. The advantage of distance learning is that everything is done for you. Generally, you have access to a teacher, an already planned out curriculum, lessons based on your child's abilities and someone else does your grading. Distance learning is especially helpful if your child has special needs, if you don't want to or are unable to teach, and if you only have one child to teach (or multiple computers).
